Hi,

I moved from the suburbs to an area just outside the suburbs, and became interested in raising chickens on an impulse. It has turned out well and I have now have a decent flock with two coops. I attached a picture of my latest coop below. It's based on the design by Third Coast Craftsman. I'd eventually like to build a large coop and have 100+ chickens, though that's out of my means right now.

  1. I started around March 2022 when I got my first chicks from a local feed store. I raised them in a cage that came with my house while I built my first coop.
  2. 11
  3. Blue laced red/gold wyandotte, black australorp, silkie
  4. Spending time outside with them
  5. 3D CAD modeling, clock repair (novice), music, railroad, basic woodworking
  6. Mechanical Engineer. My goal is to shift away from the "desk job" world and develop a career oriented more toward craft or agricultural work.
  7. I found BYC on google while researching how to raise chickens. I finally thought I'd join so I could submit a picture to the photo contest.
Welcome to the BYC family
