New member but not new to raising chicks. I currently have 15 chickens. 3 are 5 years old (Black Sex Link, Buff Orpington, and Americana). The Americana is the only one still laying.

This summer I bought 10 new chicks (4 White Leghorn, 2 Golden Sex Links, 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks, and 2 Blue Leghorns), I call them my teenagers. A month later I bought 2 Rhode Island Reds, I call them my babies.

My Americana is the only old girl that still gives us eggs. All 10 of my teenagers are now laying eggs and the babies have not started laying yet.

I am retired now and I love spoiling my chickens! They are all named and I have handled all of them since birth.

My 3 older girls do not like my younger ones and they free range in my yard all day.

My teenagers are in their own house with a large chicken run. I tried several times to add my babies with them, but the teenagers did not like them.

The babies have their own house and I bought another chicken run for them.

All my chickens are happy and healthy. I have my favorites and will take them out and swing with them each evening.

The next thing I am getting for them in their runs are some swings for them since they like to swing. I also added xylophones to each run for them to play with.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

"..swing with them each evening" must be a phrase for hanging out with your chickies?
No I actually pick up the chicken, sit them on my back porch swing next to me and swing while I pet and talk to them. Chickens love to swing. My 3 big girls get in the other back porch swing I have in the evening and swing themselves hunting it is time for them to get in their house for the night.
