Consider removing the newspaper and putting down pine shavings for the chicks. Newspaper is very slippery and can cause tendon issues for them.

Hi, I’m new to backyard chickens and have been loving chickens for about 5 years. I’ve hatched chicks under a broody hen twice and twice in an incubator. I currently have 16 x 2 week old RIR/RIW chicks. We’re starting our flock over again after a fox took our hens last year. Hubby is also building a more secure home for them. I’m hoping to gain lots more info from all of you that are far more experienced than me.
