If there are too many predators active during the day, I suppose the only way to prevent so much predation is to build a solid run (cage) and keep the chickens inside part of the day. It’s safer to let them free range if someone is outside.
Thank you for your advice. I admit that ALL the attacks were when no one was home. I have been looking for a Pyrenees puppy but haven't found one locally and as I get older I just don't like to travel to far from home. Thank you again.
 
Welcome. I decided to hardware cloth sides with an apron a very large run area, hard-cover ceiling 1/2 of it and hawk net the other 1/2 of it because frankly, I have to be somewhat functional to work for a few more years and losses from illness wipe me out for several months. My chickens are my family members.
