I am a new member...I have had my chickens since May 2023. I have 2 hens (Pearl & Olga)..unfortunately I lost 4 hens and our rooster Herman last week. They were free roaming...in the DAYLIGHT hours because we are VERY careful of curfew/protecting them....it happened SO FAST (fox).....
Anyway, just hoping to learn anything I can. Also have 3 ducks Lenny(White pekin who is 4 yrs old)(and who was literally going to be discarded at some park because they didn't want him anymore) and I received thru Metzer Farms my 2 girls...Suzie & Pilar last May when 2 days old...Lenny I got in Aug 23..but he was a great fit for the girls.
We have a very secure chicken coop though the run is 8 x 10 so I let them free roam as many people do since its a beautiful piece of property with stream..pond..that ducks love. I should add that the ducks have their own duck house/run...though they all get along and sometimes bed down with chickens.
