Hiya, Melisa, and welcome to BYC! :frow

If you raise any poultry and have pictures, we'd love to see. If you don't but are considering it, we have a lot of helpful articles and people that will help you.
I have a question for you I've got a really broody hen what can I do to discourage her she was sitting on eggs for a long time šŸ˜ž 😭 I feel bad for her but staying in the coop like she was when the eggs weren't fertilized was bad for her health

I have to deal with broodies year round, but mostly in the spring, of course when you want them to start laying better, and from then on until fall when it slows down a little bit.

The way many of us break ours, is to make a broody jail.

Here's ours. It has food in a bucket with hooks so it hooks to the side of their pen and they can't knock it over. I use a nipple bottle hung from the top so they get water but can't knock that over either. There's a 2x4 board in the middle, that's all they get to sit on. Usually 4-5 days and they are broke.

There are currently four hens in here right now.
