I have had birds for about 6 years now. I started with a couple chickens, then got ducks, then decided to open a small hatchery, which turned in to 25 chickens and 28 ducks as my personal flocks. I love it and 2 years ago I purchased peahen eggs and got 5 beauties. This last year with all the construction in our little town my birds were slaughtered little by little no matter what I did by hungry displaced predators. All that remains is 3 ducks and my 5 peacocks(2M and 3F)who laid their first eggs ever this season( they were 1.5 years old) and I ended up with 4 more babies. So we are extatic to have babies back on the farm.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Sorry for your losses.
Have you ever considered containing your flock inside electrified poultry netting?
That's how I keep my birds and I've never had a loss due to ground predators while in the pen.

Welcome to BYC! I’m so sorry about your flock. Glad you were able to add new babies though! ❤️
