Hi everyone, I’m new to chickens this year, I started at the beginning of the year by hatching eggs, only to find posted eggs are much harder to get good results from. I must have watched so many videos and read so many articles to prepare, only to find the pack and post over here in England is so much worse than in the USA. Despite that I managed to hatch two beautiful chicks, a black Orpington and a cream legbar, both turned out to be girls, and the legbar has just started to lay beautiful small blue eggs.
I have gone on to hatch Opal legbars( one boy and five girls), buff Wyandottes( two boys two girls), grey Norfolks( one boy one girl), buff Orpington’s( still to be determined only two weeks old), and French copper marans( all three were boys😭)
So next year I’m hatching more( I think I’ve caught some weird hatching bug lol) silverudds blǎ and more marans although now I’m looking at birchen or cuckoo.
Although at the end, my flock will only consist of between 4 and 6 hens no cockerels allowed unfortunately.
