Hi all,

Just a quick into, my name is Al, and I am just starting back yard chickens.

I ordered 7 chicks from mypetchicken and all 7 arrived healthy and happy. Unfortunately, over the past 3 weeks I lost 2, so I currently have 5 chicks about 3 1/2 weeks old. OMG they grow fast. I ordered 2 black australorp, 2 Plymouth barred rocks, 2 rode island reds, and 1 bountiful blue egger. The ones that I lost were both of my rode island reds, very upset about it. however, I am raising the chickens for eggs, not meat. I am building my own chicken coop which has grown in size. The coop is 4x8 and has an attached run that is 8x16. I would constantly type a question about chicken or the coop and google was constantly sending me here, so I though it was a good idea to join up.

Losing chickens is never easy, so I feel for you losing your Rhode Island Reds. I hope you have great success from here on out, and we are definitely here for you for the joys and tribulations.

It sounds like you have 5 really nice chicks! I like those breeds and have kept all except the "Bountiful Blue Egger" (which sounds like fun).
