Hello my name is Jordan. I am a new member here and looking forward to learning more. I have just started a small flock of backyard chickens. I have an Americana, two orphingtons and one silkie. I found this group from a video on you tube. I had a surprise rooster in my flock that started crowing this morning. He is an Americana, but we live in a housing development that does not allow roosters, so I was looking up a video about how to safely rehome him and it led me to this site. I was pleasantly surprised to find it because I am also very much wanting to learn more about raising chickens and am looking forward to being a part of this community.

Hiya, Jordan, and welcome to BYC! :frow

You were given two great links above for how to try rehome him here. I'd also try your state/local poultry groups in Facebook. I have my best luck there, as it reaches people in my county/state. You could also try Craigslist, but just be careful, as I recently did that and had a scam attempted.

We're glad you're here!

Welcome to BYC! I'm sorry you cant keep your boy! All the suggestions you received so far is exactly what I would recommend too, I'm sure there's folks in your area that would be happy to take him. My only add on if you don't want him to end up in the soup pot I would make sure to specify that when you post as some people will take unwanted roosters to raise them for meat which i completely understand might as well feed your family, but if you wanna try to find a home for him first before that just specify. Maybe that's just a thing where I live but I have just 1 Farm page I'm a part of for my state on FB and that's something that people have to specify in posts when rehoming roosters there. Again welcome!
