    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

    I got my first chicks in March. They're big girls now and 5 of them are laying.

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?

    6 hens

    (3) What breeds do you have?

    2 Barred Rocks and 4 Easter Eggers

    (4) How did you find out about

    by googling for information

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies

    gardening and growing orchids
    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

    I also have 3 cats.

    I have been lurking for months and have learned so much about chickens from this site.

    Quote:I raised the chicks in my greenhouse until they went in the coop at 5 weeks. The cats never saw them until then. The cats were very curious at first. My oldest cat will have nothing to do with them. My one year old (brother and sister) like the chickens, and Max will raise a paw only when the chicken get to close doing the stare down.

    We have a lot in common, I lurked for months before joining, I have EEs, found out about BYC b googling chickens, love to garden and I have a cat! I got some chicks in mid-April and they should be laying soon!
