Hello my names Tim and I live in Lehigh Acre, FL and I am in the process of building my first chicken coop but do not know what type of chickens im gona get. Any sugestions I would like brown egg laying chickens and ones that can put up with the heat.

from Ocala, FL. If you just want them for eggs and not to breed why not pick a variety. If you look at the "breeds" section on the top of the website it tells you what color eggs they lay. Basically if they have red ears they lay brown eggs and white ears lay white. I have RIR, BR, BO, and Black Astraloups that all lay brown eggs.

from Ohio. So glad you joined. I'm on the other extreme, having chickens that can handle the cold. Good luck in your search. Most breeds are pretty hardy.

From Washington State. I can't help you with breed because I'm from where we worry about the opposite.

I'm sure someone here will be very helpful though.
