Hello Everyone! I am absolutely so, so new to raising chickens!! Found this great forum the other night while searching info on caring for my baby girls. I have 14 asst. RIR, BLK Star, White Rock and Americauna. Two of them (I found out) had pasty butt. Wasn't sure what to do or if it was normal. Found your forum with a wealth of knowledge and took care of the chicks. They are beautiful and healthy today (no more pasty butt). I will be on quite a bit seeking knowledge. Thank you so much!
Also, should have told you my husband and I live on 8 1/2 acres on the finger lakes(Skaneateles) in beautiful upstate NY. Would like the chickens to be as organic as can be. I had them vaccinated and am feeding them unmedicated chick starter. Once we get them in the coop we would like to be able to let them free range during the afternoons. All sooooo new. Just want them to be happy and healthy and everything else will follow. So nervous about disease and parasites! Such is the life of a new mother, huh?
