There are two things I never imagined doing--being a grandma and raising chickens! But now I LOVE both! We had chickens when I was a kid, but there was definitely a "survival of the fittest" mentality regarding them--I don't ever remember anyone nursing a chicken. Well, I've nursed chickens! I've saved two (one twice!) and lost two, and am educating myself more all the time! I have four Dominique hens--Tink, Black Betty, TJ, and Ziva (RIP Helen), one Australorp-Luna (RIP Penny--dang fox!), and one Silver-Laced Wyandotte--Pearl. I also have one husband, two daughters, 1 granddaughter, who is chicken-crazy like her grandma, one granddaughter on the way in August (WooHoo!), two horses, two dogs, one cockatiel and one Goffin cockatoo named Ozzy! We love our birds!
