]I got two chicks last week, one cochin and one silkie. They get along just fine, and are so sweet! They do like being out in the grass, but since they are so young, is it good for them?

It's fine if the chicks are out in the grass, provided you watch them and make sure they don't get lost.
We used to let our chicks out when they were a couple weeks old, but they end up hiding in the weirdest places.
And if you let them out regularly you don't really need to provide grit anymore because they pick it up from the soil.
