Hello

My name is Ashton and I am from Alberta, Canada. I recently bought an acreage with 17 hens and 2 rooster. 14 of the hens and both roosters are White Leghorns and the other 3 hens are different breeds, which I have yet to identify. Some of the hens are older and look quite ragged and even at this time of the year I only get about 5 to 8 eggs a day from them. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to increase their egg output?

Some of the older ones may be burned out on laying. If you want a steady out put you might add some younger stock in

The issue could be in their food. If there is not enough calcium, that might cause them to stop or slow down. Also, around 3 years old, they slow down due to age.
