Hello all
I am just starting out again with chickens, my grandparents had them when i was a child and these are my first since then. A friend presented me with a coop for my 50th birthday in the spring, and 3 bantam cochin hens from a livestock auction. One died, he replaced it with a larger cochin hen that he hatched himself. So 3 total. The larger hen seems to have taken over, was standing on the other two, and recently started crowing which i hope is not a problem for the neighbors. Anyway, i do enjoy having them and reading about others experiences with them. I am a veterinary technician and have always enjoyed watching traditional pets (dogs and cats) behaviors and its a lot of fun to watch the chickens interact with each other and the other pets. I like them so much i would at some point like to expand the flock.
