Hi from Montana and another retired nurse. Glad you are with us .We are raising chickens (dual purpose) for meat and eggs. Putting in a new raised bed garden as this year's project.
You will love the raised beds, easy to care for and plants do well. We had 6 tomato plants in one of our raised beds last year and got plenty of tomatoes. The plants got huge. I am trying to get a strawberry bed started in one but not having much luck. Dry weather hasn't helped.
I worked in a nursing home most of my career and my husband was mostly a psychiatric nurse. He tried the nursing home before he retired and really like it.
I worked in the ER most of my career and then in employee health as an immunization specialist just before I retired. Interestingly, most of our other employee health and workmen's comp nurses were psych nurses and of course ER requires a lot of psych. We all had a lot of laughs about that. We ran a great department with the 5 psych and 1 ER nurse. We took that hospital from bordering on uninsurable to the lowest insurance modifier in the nation. Glad to be retired, it was a lot of work.
The raised beds sure sound like the way to go for old knees and backs.
