Hello!
I am a new member from Missouri. We currently do not have chickens, but are planning on getting some this spring. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Not sure what kind, how many, what age, basically anything! All we do know is we want to have a small to moderate amount of chickens to raise for eggs!!

First I think you should determine how many eggs you'd need a week for your family. Do you intend to give eggs to friends, family on a regular basis? add that to the total, plus any free eggs you'll give away to bribe neighbors not to complain about anything.. Do you plan on selling extras?

Hen's aren't egg machines so sometimes you will be short and maybe other times a bonanza. Once you have a number in mind - post that in the thread and ask for recommendations of a breed or breeds that could provide it. These chicken people are really good, they could tell you how many hens you'll need etc.
