Hi, we have just become proud owners of our first chicken coop and are now on the lookout for 2 or 3 hens. We want them to be pets but also layers. I have been looking at breeds and think Delawares or Sussex or australorps would be good, we live in southwest WA Australia, can't seem to find much, anyone know any breeders in the southwest ?

Hello from across the pond...

I cant help with any breeders but I too have a small coop with 3 hens. My experience was kept getting Roosters...I finally found the Black Sex Link and I was able to FINALLY (after 3 sets of chicks) guarantee my that I had a hen. they also lay great.

The breeds you mentioned are beautiful and I would love any of them for myself. as of today we have a White Wyandotte, a Rhode Island Red and a Black Sex Link... I LOVE this new found hobby, Good luck to you...
