Hello BYC

I'm new on here but I've been viewing BYC for awhile now.... great info and its so great to go on here for all my questions/concerns as a newbie!!!

I've got a small flock 13 hens (3x Cochins, 2x Orpington's, 2x Ameraucana's, 3xRhode Island Reds, 3x silkies) and 1 silkie rooster.

So much fun !! But not with out some heartbreak in the begining and some very hard truth about what CAN happen even with all the right precautions and all the research prior to jumping in to this very wonderful world of chickens !!

predators can destroy a great flock overnight

Make sure you get what you want

Try to have some kind of set up for what ever situation

Extra cages you can make and are useful

Don't turn your back for a minute or poultry math will happen

Always have fun with your flock and enjoy !!!!!!!

Yes, there is always a negative to so much positive in life, including chickens! But they are worth it as they give so much back to you that it makes it easier to weather out the tough stuff.
