We're glad to have you. If you want another breed of chicken that will lay more eggs, I recommend the Wyandotte. In my experience, they are gentle, docile, and have great personality. My birds lay about 6 eggs a week each in the summer and drop to maybe 3-4 eggs a week each in the winter. Wyandottes come in many pretty colors (my favorite is the Columbian).
