Hi everyone.

I am new to this page. I started out with chickens 2 years ago with a couple of ex battery hens. They were sweethearts to look after. Now we have 3 hens, and 4 chicks: 2 ex bats, 1 jersey giant, think we got done on her, reckon now she might be a bantam cross, and the chicks I reckon are crosses, Wyandotte, light Sussex and a mystery chick. Great to have found this site. I have posted a few questions already and am delighted to receive answers from people who are more experienced.

Great that you could rescue ex-battery hens. You might want to join in on this thread and share your experiences, pics of your birds and even help out as well...

Hi All, I too am new to BYC, love the site! I have 6 girls 6 weeks old.
2 NHR, 2 PR, 2 Barred Rocks! So far they are doing great, aside from
a late night call from downstairs letting me know there was a chick flying
around the living room! Coop is not ready but the girls are!!! I think they are
bored, i gave them a perch and some toys, but they want out! Soon the coop
will be ready! Thank you all for all the helpful information on here!

Thanks and yes I do ask a lot of questions, am inexperienced and keen to I am doing the best for my flock. Very excited about having my own chicks. Have been reading loads.

Will definitely join the ex batt threat. They are a dream to own. Amazing to watch them go from not able to use there own legs, pretty much featherless and sores everywhere to the happy, healthy birds they are now. Shame there life expectancy is so short :(

Make yourself at home here on BYC and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!

@girlybirds mine are the same. I found them all in the bath one day (no water in it). I put mine out during the day and they love it now. Weather is too unpredictable to leave them in the coop at night. Might move them to the garage at night next week, just to get used to the temp. Mine are 6 weeks too. They do get bored but I have found having them inside great for taming them as the get more attention.
