Hi, my name is Kristin and I've had chickens for about 3 years now off and on. Haven't had the best luck with them but love the fresh eggs so I am trying again with 5 chicks. I have many questions and look forward to learning a lot about chickens!

Hi, I'm a newbie to raising chickens but I'm loving it already!!! I started with 4 gold buff Orpingtons, 2 Brahamas, and two speckled Sussex. Now I'm up to 14 in my flock!!! I look forward to reading posts and sharing with other chicken enthusiasts!!

The only problem I've had is predators. My first batch of chickens when they were full grown I would let them free roam in the backyard during the day and a hawk got one of them. Later on something was able to break into the coop and get the others. A while later I tried again with 2 hens, we reinforced the coop so nothing could get in, well we didn't do a good enough job because something was able to reach in under the 2 inch gap on the bottom and kill those ones. Now we have reinforced again so nothing can get in under, and am trying with 5 new chickens. We've also attached solar motion lights and blinking red lights predator guard, trying anything to keep these ones safe!
