The Rainbow is a new breed from the hatchery here in Iowa. They are supposed to be a dual purpose bird with unique, colorful feather patterns. So far I am pleased with them. They seem to be a fairly calm bird and some of them do have lovely feather patterns. Time will tell.

I've seen them, but never had any. They are also sold by some hatcheries under the names Dixie Rainbows and Pioneers. They're suppose to grow faster and get larger than the Red Ranger hybirds. Good luck with your Rainbows.

Welcome from Georgia!! This is the best site for all things chicken. Iowa? The fabled land of giant whitetail bucks? I am sooo jealous.

That's an interesting name for a hybrid, I actually like it! I think I must google them and see what they look like. You've got me curious now

Wish you would put up some photos of the rainbows, so we all can see what they are like. You have generated interest in them. Welcome to BYC

I would like to thank everyone for all of the welcomes. I am new at this, so bear with me please. The Rainbows vary quite a bit in color, but I like them more everyday.
