) You have some really excellent layers. Black Sex Links are my favorite chickens; friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds) and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per year per hen. Hopefull separating the rooster will have solved you problem. The only reason you need a rooster is to fertilize eggs for hatching. I currently have 25 hens in my flock and no roosters, and I get loads of eggs without all the aggression, biting and plucking of feathers, crowning in the middle of the night, drop off in egg production, over-breeding, and battering that goes along with having roosters.
