I am Jennifer from Northern MI. I have 7 black sexlink hens and one leghorn. Tomorrow we will pick up some Americana flock that need a new home. Also 2 BO hens. 2 of the Americana's are purebred lavender's one hen and one roo. Then 4 black split. Roo is 1-1/2 years old and current flock is 8 months old and new hens are 10 months old. From The Gary Farm originally. Looking forward to breeding and filling some orders for the lavender's pure breed

Will the eggs of the black splits be different from the lavender? TIA for any help :)

Welcome to BYC, Jennifer. I'm glad you decided to join our flock. Black Sex Links are my favorite chickens; friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. Assuming that your Lavender and Black Split Ameraucanas are pure Ameraucanas, there won't be any real difference in the eggs; they will all be blue. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

We're glad to have you.

Sorry, I'm not very good with genetics. I'd definitely go to the link Mountain Peeps gave you. I hope you can find the answers you need!
