I have rhode island reds, they are great! I want to get my hubby a couple of silkies. I know it's hard to tell if you have a male or female. How are they to raise? I want an americauna, and more reds. The reds are so easy! They are so much fun to watch! thanks for your interest. Valencia

You will get lots of large, brown eggs from your RIR hens. If you want to know their sex, just post some pics of them on our What Breed or Gender is This? section (if they are are least 5-6 weeks old) at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this, and let our experts there take a look at them for you.
