Thanks everyone! My chicks are rode island red, black, gold, and red sex-link, and red production. I'm hoping for a lot of brown eggs!

I've had all of those over the years, and you have an excellent group of layers. Gold and Red Sex Links are actually two variations on the same cross; both are the offspring of a red gene rooster and a silver gene hen. Hatcheries market their Red Sex Links under a number of different labels depending on which silver gene hens are used in the cross. Black Sex Links are the offspring of a red gene rooster and a barred hen. Both sex link varieties can be sexed by color at hatching, and are egg laying machines, outlaying either parent breed. It's one of the interesting quirks of hybridization. You will get loads of eggs from those girls.)

Also, I've posted my chicken coop project here if your interested!

I went over and took a look at it, and it looks very nice, but definitely put some hardware cloth over that chicken wire as there are just too many predators that can either tear through chicken wire, or squeeze through the openings in the mesh. Hardware cloth is more expensive, but it's still cheaper than replacing your flock. Hardware cloth has saved many chicken owners a lot of tears.)
