Sorry about that. Somehow I missed seeing page 2 of this thread. You're getting a nice mixed flock. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I've raised them for years and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Good luck with your flock.

It's okay! My black australorps from last year were very skittish and didn't want to be handled or anything! Taking one to fair was silly because everytime I got to the cage she would freak out!

Sorry you've had this issue with your Australorps. There's a good article at http://www.mypetchicken.com/backyar...-run-away-whenever-they-see-me-Can-I-H57.aspx on how to tame chickens. This method has worked very well with ours, including our Australorps. Good luck in taming your chickens. :eek:)
