My name is Rob Ewing, and in my youth I was into hatching Quails. Time has sped by and I am now 52 and have the bug again to get back into hatching game birds. I just made a 55 quart Igloo cooler incubator. I have 2 40 watt bulbs for heat, a 12 volt computer fan blowing over my heat source and an Incubator Warehouse BI-Metal Thermostat. My question is my heat is at 100 degrees. I tried to adjust the thermostat down to get it around 99 degrees but it will only go up to 97 degrees when I mess with the thermostat. Is 100 degrees too high to hatch ring neck pheasants. If anyone can answer this question it would be of real help.
Thanks,
Rob

100 degrees is just fine for pheasant eggs. The recommended temperature for pheasant eggs is actually 99.6-100 degrees so you should be jut fine! Don't let humidity go any lower than 45% and no higher than 55% for long periods of time. Crank humidity up to 70% for last 3 days and stop turning on day 21. Make sure to give chicks at least one square foot per bird when they hatch and make sure you don't let the chicks overheat or they will start to kill one another. Make sure to have food and water available at all times and try to interact with chicks often when they are chicks so they aren't so skittish when they get older. Good luck my friend!!
