Hi! I'm Linda, and I live between San Marcos, New Braunfels, and Wimberley, in Texas. I've just lost three more chickens to predators, including my beautiful barred rock rooster, so my flock is now down to one rooster and one hen. Bob is out there crowing his head off, glad to be the boss again, as Dude was the alpha rooster before he was killed. We got rather lax because the coop is completely enclosed by fencing, but apparently the predator(s) found a way in. We are currently closing and LATCHING the coop door again. My little dachshund chased away the invaders when he was outside, but not much he can do when he's inside sleeping with me! We plan to rebuild the flock, so I'm looking for a local supplier. We really enjoy the fresh eggs!

Predators are just awful!! I sure hope you have good luck reestablishing your flock.

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions, feel free to ask around the forums. Welcome to our flock!

Do you have any idea how the predator breached your security? Did it dig under, tear through(fencing) , climb, or jump down from tree branches? If you can figure that out, you can take steps to fortify your structures. You may want to post on the predator threads for their advice and suggestions.
