My daughter and I have embarked ona backyard chickens adventure. I've had chickens before but we were inspired by three other families we know to start our own small flock. We decided on the One of Each approach - 8 week pullets (we hope!) - so we can tell them apart because naming is fun!: A Dominique (Vivian) who flys onto our shoulders the second we walk into the run and prefers to sit in our lap. A B/W Ameraucana (Rita) who is very bossy. A Golden Laced Wyandotte (Frances) who likes noodles more than anything else in the whole world. and A white Blue Andalusian (Loretta) who is going against the grain by being a friendly little gal. Today we got a Welsummer (Wilma) who is the tall, dark and not very silent type - has something to say on every topic; a Delaware (Dottie) whose personality is still a bit of a mystery but perhaps she wants it that way; and a Buff Orpington (Agnes The Meek) who wishes Rita wasn't so darn bossy.
