Hello ! We are a small and starting family with a small but up and coming organic and free range farm :) Looking for any info, advice, and or criticism .... I am still learning the site and am going to find a way to post pics. :) we seem to have a Plymouth Rock hen named dump truck (who was a rescue from Phoenix, we know nothing about her) she began our love of chickens and we received an aloha rooster who we named mr. Layhee. In the next week or so we are getting some cream legbar chicks, so so excited. :) any questions welcome, we love the byc and all the info we get here !! Thank you so much :)!!!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sounds like things are going good for you there. Getting new chicks is always very exciting, I love raising them they are so much fun and it's very rewarding.

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock - hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do. Have you checked out the Learning Center, it is a great place to start.

Thanks everyone :) I am getting a computer set up here (we are pretty old school) and will be able to post pics soon. :) thanks for your replies, this chicken thing is addicting... Almost as addicting as all of your cool names and pics !! Lol !!!!

Btw, like I said I am new to this.... Our rescue dump truck whom I have pined and read about.... We have come to the conclusion she is a Plymouth Rock... I am wondering a few things and seeings how I can't show pics I will explain:
She started out as a normal Featherling... We are free range so she was out scratching and doing her thing :). Was very friendly and fell on all of the classic good health standards .... She grew very very very large lol. She was born may 7th, (an estimate on her age when I got her) She is so big she is so lazy lol... Doesn't do much anymore. She won't put herself in her coop, if I come out and put her is she gladly stays but will not go on her own. :/ she is still healthy (it seems) Now that we have mr. Layhee she had been pushy to him but he does everything perfectly. !!! She is still the same old dump truck. These may be stupid questions but I am learning .....
Is she so big and lazy because she is a meat chicken or a gmo chicken ?
Is she going to affect my future flick with her weirdness? Lol
Should I avoid her ever fertilizing eggs ?
Is she even a girl ?!?! Lol. I considered renaming her Caitlin. :) lol. She has never laid an egg !!!
I appreciate you guys tolerating my silly questions and any time you take out. Feel free to tell me what's up. :) I have been surfing through all the info for newbies and it's helping a whole lot :)!
