Totally new! I got my 3 pullets two weeks ago and they're growing fast!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 3

(3) What breeds do you have? red sex link and black sex link

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? raising my own food; teaching my kids where their food comes from (an actual animal)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? camping, painting and now chicken raising lol

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have twin boys and two dogs.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? to connect with like minded chicken "tenders"

You have certainly come to the right place to find other chicken folks! People here have experience, knowledge and a willingness to share with others.

I like that your kids will know where their food comes from, although I'm hoping you mean eggs. Not all kids want to know that the drumstick on the table was once a leg of their favorite pet! But, yes, we did eat (only the unnamed) chickens when I a kid, and those chickens had grown up in our coop. Named chickens got a pass on becoming entrees.

Enjoy the journey because your pullets do grow fast! And then come the eggs!!!!
