I hang Die-no-mite pest strips in all my nest boxes and chicken doors and have not had any mites since I put them up.
I recently found something similar you clip on the bird's wing for mites. Like Die-no-mite, it has a lose dose of slow release permethrin that provides protection for the birds. It is not cheap, but would be good for someone who has a few birds or who has a persistent problem with mites.
