MilotheQuail
In the Brooder
Hello everyone! My quail has become broody, and she’s a lone quail, so I decided to set some fertile eggs under her so that she can hatch out a friend. Just today, some have hatched! However, this is both my first and her first time with a real nest. She seems quite agitated and doesn’t know quite what to make of the babies. She’s getting in and out of the best more, and I’m afraid she’s harming the babies and eggs by repeatedly stepping on them and being inconsistent in incubation. Is this normal or is there something I can do to help her calm down and accept the babies? I’m really hoping this turns out well and she knows what to do...
Because this is my first time, I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to make sure the hatching process goes well and that she accepts all of them. Is there anything I should watch out for? What should I do in the event that she accidentally kicks out an egg or harms the babies. Is it okay if she steps on one a bit? Since this is my first time, I’m fussing and worrying a lot but I feel I need to be prepared!
