Hello! I'm from Oklahoma and currently have 3 ducks. 1 Cayuga drake (1 year old) & 2 (6 week old) female Welsh Harlequin. My drake lost his wife to a predator and now I'm so glad I decided to raise a few more females this spring. I've always loved ducks and over the last year it's been fun to make them a permanent addition to our home. This forum has been super helpful and it's nice to have a community to ask questions. Thanks for the support!

My question is when I can leave my drake and ducklings together all the time?? I kept them separated by a fence the ducklings first 4 weeks and over the last two weeks I let the Drake in the ducklings pen to socialize under my supervision. The ducklings are the ones who initially chased the drake and let him know who is boss. He did try to mount one of them 2 weeks ago and I put a stop to that fast & he hasn't tried to do that again. I started letting them free range on our acre of land and they are all getting along great. The drake seems to be showing them the ropes of the yard and watching over them. They aren't being aggressive toward each other at all. Right now I have them sectioned off at night so I don't have to worry about one of the ducklings getting injured. When I'm at work during the day I leave the drake in my fenced acre of land to free range and the ducklings are in an outdoor pen area. I wanted to see if anyone has advise on when I can let the ducklings free range with my drake during the day without my supervision & when can I put them in their coop at night all together. I'm beyond ready to not deal with all the separation, but I also don't want to hurry the process either.
