My hen hatched out 5 chicks 3 days ago. I gave her 5 foster chicks and all are doing well. Today, I went outside and found mother hen had left her blocked off area and was setting on a nest of eggs. The area was blocked to prevent chicks from wandering too far, not completely enclosed.
Anyone have experience with a new mother wanting to go broody again? This is my first broody chicken and she seems to be a good job of mothering. She has not taken the babies out anywhere. Food and water are close to the nest and the babies get up to eat as needed.
Ideas? Suggestions?
