Hello everyone! I am new to raising chickens and excited about watching them grow and produce eggs. Im going to follow protocol and answer some of the generic questions posted...Here goes...

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes I am new to chickens and first got 12 of them and 2 ducks about a month or so ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We now have 10 chickens (we lost 2) and 2 ducks

(3) What breeds do you have? we have 3 booted bantums, 2 black ones, 2 white ones, and 3 red ones. Lol not sure the types. I may post pics later for yall to help me out with that part.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Watching them grow and change daily. Seeing their new feathers coming in and seeing how they interact with one another and me and my family. I love watching them. I find myself watching them for long periods at a time. I talk to them a lot and pet them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Spending time outdoors, gardening, camping, fishing

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are a blended family of 7. We have 5 kids still at home ages: 18,14,11,9,8. We have 2 indoor cats and a cockatiel. We recently just bought a house in the country with almost 4 acres and are new to all of this country living. We have always lived in town (not by choice) until we finally found a home that suited us quite well. I have always wanted chickens but had to wait for the right time. I am about to put my chickens in our chicken coop in the next couple of days. They pretty much have all of their feathers and they are getting to big for their brooder and flying out. I am hopeful that you all can tell me what kind of chickens that I have. I purchased them from Tractor Supply. We didn't plan on getting ducks until we were picking out the chickens and we decided to get 2 because they were so cute. One of our ducks is sweet...the other is a butthole.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D I looked up a question online and it brought this site up to me. I think its something I may be interested in.
