Hi there everyone. For the first time ever I have enough space to keep some chickens! What a learning curve I'm on!!!! I was recommended to hatch and raise chicks because I want them to be family friendly. OMG!! Who would have known hatching from eggs could be so stressful!! I was literally pacing up and down for hours waiting for the hatching and desperately not wanting to interfere with nature too soon.

Sadly, on a couple of occasions, I should have intervened earlier. Hey ho, I now have a mini flock of adolescent and new hatchlings and hoping like anything that more of them are hens the roosters....

I just want to thank all the forum posts on this sight, it has been the biggest single source of learning and information in my latest adventure!!

Blessings to all

Hi and welcome to BYC - great that you have joined us. Keeping chickens sure is a learning curve - but a fun one.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

all the best

Welcome!

Congratulations on the little ones!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
