Just got 3 new muscovies (MFF) from a local breeder & wondering how long to keep them segregated until the current pair will accept them. Current pair (MF) are 2 yrs old, newbies are 3 & 4 mo old. Don't have room to segregate more than 3 @ a time so if this goes well, I'd like to get 3 more females to improve the M/F ratio before the snow falls. BTW, if anyone needs new birds, PM me for info in northern NY (St Lawrence Co.)

Well if your drakes are still sexually active and your new females are only 3-4 months old they need a little more time to mature before putting them with a drake. The females should be at least 5 months before letting a drake with them. Why not just get more females and put them with the new ones you just got? If close in age. Then you can put them all together at the same time?

Don't tempt me! I can easily get to Northern NY! :D

Pssst, if you know of anyone with LAVENDER Muscovy, please tell me! I would have PM'd, but I'm going on less than three hours sleep right now and about to go crash for another two.

I know of a breeder with lots of lovely lavendar muscovy. Near me in NE Florida. You would have to drive all the way down I-95 or fly to JAX
Well, if my friend is driving his folks down to Florida, I'll have him pick up a few! :D Wonder how he'd get them across the border though, back into Canada...

No, I meant if it was in norther nNY, that's actually only a few hours from me.

Zufall Farms in Lisbon has multiple color muscovies. I paid $10 ea for 2 whites. If you want to call and ask if he has any lavenders, his # is 315-322-5466

My current segregation area is too small and with construction materials having skyrocketed in price, we can't afford to expand it right now. There's also isolation time to insure the new girls are free of infection before investing in more.
