New Nervous Member

Well, there's not much to say. I'm quite new at taking care of chickens and I joined Backyardchickens because I need some help. I have 2 hens, their names are Chi-Chi and Mitski. We used to have another hen called Luna but she unfortunately died from Red mites. This website is a big help in case our chickens need assistance.

Have you treated the coop and your remaining girls for the infestation? Do they have a much larger area to enjoy other than that tiny coop/run?

I am so sorry you lost a bird. You definitely want to treat the entire coop, run, clean out old bedding and repeat every 7 days for a month or so. Check birds daily, look around on the back of the neck and vent for signs of bugs.

If you haven't treated them yet, most folks use Permethrin powder/garden dust for their coops, runs, and chickens.
