In the Brooder
Hi folks! My name is Megan. I’m new to chickens. I live in the Yukon, Canada with my 2 year old daughter, husband and two dogs on our slowly progressing homestead.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to this chicken life. About two months ago I got three Barnyard mix chicks that were three weeks old. I then hatched out 4 Silverrudd Blues that are now just about 2 weeks old. (Amazing how much smaller they are than the 3 weeks old I had got when I think about that now). Last week I introduced two Barred Rock layers that are 3 years old. Unfortunately not sure how I like the BR for my small flock as they seem to be struggling to settle and are very unsure of me. (I introduced used the old school method of during roosting and it didn’t help)
I am loving having this new project. We have recently grown our garden and are looking forward to getting a bit more self sustaining. Would like to progress that way as best we can.
