Hello all! I am Amber of Hodgden farms. I have been raising chickens for the most part of my last 20 years. I have usually raised traditional breeds, such as Rhode island reds (my favorite), black Australorps, and white rocks. I have chosen to now raise more ornamental breeds for breeding and showing. I want to get more for eggs, but I don't have the room I once had for chickens. Right now I have black, white, and partridge silkies. I still have a large breed, which are my babies. I have one gorgeous Columbian Wyandotte rooster and his two ladies. I am considering some Ayam cemanis in the near future. Any feedback on this thought would be great! I have been reading threads from this website for quite some time, and I look forward to being a part of future discussions.

! It's great to have you in our community! I am not the person to ask with either of those two breeds as I've never raised them - by there are a fair number of folks on BYC who do. Find their threads in the Breeds Forum here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/14/general-breed-discussions-faq
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!!

Periodically a Chicken Breed Focus thread is done that features a specific breed...here's a link to the one on Ayam Cemani breed: post #1. You might enjoy seeing what others have to say about them.

It's nice to have you here, thanks for joining us!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
