In the Brooder
Hi all!
My wife, Robyn, and I are new to the entertaining world of backyard chickens. Robyn has wanted chickens ever since we left the city and moved to northern Iowa. I really didn't want another set of chores, but she did promise the grandkids we were going to have chickens.
Last Memorial Day we got our first day-old chicks, a Rhode Island Red, an ISA Brown and a Golden Comet. A week later, we got an Australorp, a Barred Plymouth Rock and an Americana. After applying chicken mathematics, we needed a couple more, so we acquired a pair of Silkies, a black and a blue splash.
The Americana and both Silkies turned out to be roosters, so we need to re-home or cull the Silkies in the spring. And add another 5 hens [using chicken math,10)
