In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up on a farm and we had (at one point or another) chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats, horses, snakes, hamsters, fish, cats, dogs, etc.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I am rebuilding my flock after 1yr being chicken free.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Chicks have been purchased and are on the way.
Buff Orpingtons
Barred Rocks
Bielefelders
Welsummers
Cream Legbars
Black/Blue Copper Marans
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching them and hand feeding. Although the main reasons for raising chickens are self-sufficiency and control of what we eat.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Everything homesteading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have cattle (4 dexter steers), an old Shetland pony, and cats. Also in the process of trying to build a new home.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I actually found BYC years ago and was a member for a while. Now I'm back rebuilding my flock and doing things a little differently with a new setup.
