Help! I thought I was prepared but now I’m seeing conflicting information and don’t know what to do. I have 5 Call Ducks, nearing the end of day 25. They’re locked down, but now I’m being told that they need assistance etc etc, but ALSO I’ve read to never open the incubator once locked down due to shrink wrapping them. I don’t want them to run out of air 😬🥺 I want to do right by them. They’re all alive.

@WVduckchick hatches Call ducklings not sure if she will see this but hopefully. How are they today. Are these show quality or pet quality there is a difference in hatching since the show quality will be the ones with the tiny bills and need help.

There are certain circumstances when call ducks need assistance hatching, but not always. As @Miss Lydia said, PQ vs SQ can be a major factor. Assisting also depends on you. Some folks help more aggressively, some choose to be hands-off and let mother nature decide.

But in general, by day 25, you should have some internal and external pips. Can you tell us more about the parents of the eggs, and what kind of incubator you are using, and also the temps and humidity you have been running? Have you candled the eggs and watched their progress?
