new one on me... Gangrene or ???

I had an amazing rooster that 3 weeks ago had a growth the size of a quarter at the fold on top of his wing.... It grew so fast and morphed his wing in 3 weeks... I put him out of his misery after deciding it wasn't infected and had no real smell to it... Upon examining the growth which had turned black in places and even to the bone... I have no idea what it was... Any ideas chicken experts???

Without pictures it would be hard to say. Cancer maybe?

How fast does cancer travel... This was like the speed of light... It only took a few short weeks to wiegh several pound... When I cut into it initially trying to discover the problem.. It was very thick and dense and had no odor at all... It traveled into the bone rendering it black.. Has anyone had a tumor that spread like wildfire... It took him out of commission and seemed to double daily. Sorry no pix... would welcome any dialogue though. Thanks
