Hi everyone, a big hello from Michigan!
I've been a long time reader, and until recently I had been missing having a flock since I live in the city. Thankfully my city ordinance changed, and we're lucky enough to legally have 4 hens in our back yards. My family and I have been in heaven.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? It has been a long time, but this past March we purchased 9 little hens - Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Easter Eggers and ISA Browns. We brooded them in the house, and now that we've moved them outside we have sold five of them to be compliant with our city law.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Just four, but I wish we could have many more!
(3) What breeds do you have? Barred Rock (Pepper), Buff Orpington (Anna), a gorgeous EE (Elsa - We have young daughters if you couldn't tell), and a super friendly ISA Brown.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Through other friends and members.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, Fishing, woodworking and brewing beer and mead.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Our house is full of animal lovers. The family has two dogs, the chickens, two cats and both of our young girls have a hamster for their own.
